How to Debloat Fast: Cumin, Fennel, Ginger Tea (Ayurvedic Home Remedy)
If your stomach feels puffy, tight, or “heavy,” Ayurveda doesn’t jump straight to harsh detoxes. It starts with something simple: warming digestion, easing trapped gas, and helping your body move what it’s holding onto.
One of the most classic home remedies for bloating in Ayurveda is a cumin–fennel–ginger tea. It’s comforting, easy, and (when used correctly) incredibly effective as part of a debloat routine.
I’m Sonam Makharia, a Certified Ayurvedic Health Coach and Certified Skincare Formulator (with an MBA), and I share holistic routines that connect digestion, inflammation, and how you feel in your skin, because bloat and sluggish digestion often show up everywhere.
Ingredients
-
1 tsp cumin seeds (jeera)
-
1 tsp fennel seeds (saunf)
-
½ to 1 tsp freshly grated ginger (or ¼ tsp dried ginger powder)
-
2 cups water
-
Optional: a pinch of rock salt (helps if you feel heavy/constipated)
-
Optional: a squeeze of lemon after it cools slightly (skip if you have acidity)
How to make it
-
Add water to a pot.
-
Add cumin + fennel + ginger.
-
Bring to a boil, then simmer 8–10 minutes.
-
Strain and sip warm.
How to drink it for best results
-
For quick debloat: 1 cup after meals
-
For daily digestion support: 1 cup mid-morning or evening
-
For “puffy” mornings: 1 cup warm, slowly sipped
Don’t chug it. Sip like you’re telling your nervous system to calm down too.
Variations based on what your bloating feels like
1) If you’re gassy + crampy
Add ¼ tsp ajwain (carom seeds) to the tea.
2) If you’re constipated + dry
Add a pinch of rock salt and drink warm after dinner.
3) If you feel acidic (burning, reflux)
Use less ginger, skip lemon, and don’t drink it on an empty stomach.
